Outpatient Psychotherapist

The Center for Family & Maternal Wellness is seeking Licensed Psychotherapists to provide mental health services in an outpatient setting in Charlotte, NC. Therapists are expected to provide comprehensive clinical assessments, case management as needed, and individual, family, and group therapy utilizing evidence-based theories. Qualified candidates will also need strong documentation & time management skills.  We are seeking self-motivated and driven individuals who are also willing to contribute to their own caseload.

Ideal candidates will be empaneled with several different commercial insurance carriers and MCO’s. Certification or training in an evidence-based treatment model such as TF-CBT, DBT, EMDR, etc is a plus. Candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule, possibly to include some evenings. Hours may vary based on caseload. For highly qualified candidates, paneling may be offered as part of the hiring incentive.

Qualified candidates must have a Master's Degree in Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work, or Counseling and full licensure as an Independent Practitioner in the State of North Carolina is required. Bilengual candidates a plus.  LCAS credential is a plus.  Applicants with provisional licensure will not be considered. One year post graduate experience in a clinical setting with children, adolescents, and adult population is required. Valid NC driver’s license and clean driving record required. 2018-2019 Student Internship Positions


The Center for Family & Maternal Wellness is now accepting applications for the 2018/2019 academic year. Internships are available in a variety of fields including: Social Work, Counseling, and Human Resources. We look forward to partnering with students and professionals who are interested in learning more about our services and our advocacy. Internship is monitored work or service experience that is unpaid. The duration can vary based on the type of internship.

If you have a passion for direct practice and/or social justice? the Center for Family & Maternal Wellness could be the ideal internship site for you! We are currently seeking enthusiastic, tech-savvy interns for the 2018/2019 academic year.

Interns will work in an Outpatient Psychotherapy setting while gaining both clinical and administrative experience with a diverse staff of individuals as well as children, adolescents, and adults who have been diagnosed with mental illness or relationship distress. This is an advanced placement best suited for creative and highly motivated individuals interested in a career in direct practice or organizational management.  

We currently have contracts with the following Universities: UNCC, JCSU, Montreat College. If you do not see your University listed, please speak to your advisor about setting up a contract with CFMW before proceeding. Please note that we only allow recorded sessions with a signed release. 

Required Skills
Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Desire to work in a Gender Diverse environment with people of varying gender expression and sexual orientation

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in the English language) required

Must have a valid driver’s license and available, dependable transportation
